Some basic information about us

We are a church filled with people from a variety of backgrounds. Some of our people have been in church a long time, and for others, this Sunday will be their first time to have ever come to a church. What we strive to accomplish is that when you walk in to our worship services at either 9am or 10:30am, you will find a place where your entire family will hear from God and will learn about Him.

You will find a great place for preschool aged children to be able to learn and have a great time doing it. Elementary aged children have a special place to meet, play and learn during the 9am service and they have their own worship service, called "The Wave", that meets at 10:30am. There are also special options for teenagers and a unique place just for 5th and 6th graders.

Below you will find more information about the history of our church. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Our History and Heritage

First Christian Church began with a vision to reach those beyond ourselves, and we have carried that vision through the past 80 plus years. Five people first met in a home in 1923 with a vision to begin a Christian Church in Kenosha. Early services began in a tent and moved into a vacant store front and finally into an empty church building.

Though the early years were difficult, the congregation continued to grow to the point that in 1946 the decision was made to purchase land on 75th street. God blessed First Christian with some forty years of impact on Kenosha's South-side at that location while still reaching out to other communities. During the seventies, church leadership assisted in starting a new church work in Winthrop Harbor and again in the early nineties started a church in the city of Racine.

In 1994, with the vision to reach those beyond ourselves in mind a team of people began developing plans which resulted in moving to our current location. In May of 1998, we celebrated our 75th anniversary with an outdoor, ground-breaking tent service, and the first worship services were held here in October of 1999.

The building has simply been a God-given tool for the real Church that has been built, our Growing Family on a Journey with God, and continues to reach out and impact those beyond ourselves. We have since added an addition to make room for the next generation where our kids and teens can worship and study His word.
